Day 18: What Book Could You Read Over and Over Again?
Hey nosies!
I can’t wait to see how many days it takes me to complete this 30 day challenge. I don’t know if I should be proud that I’m too busy or if I should be embarrassed.
Anyway, this day’s challenge is very easy. There is NO book that I could read over and over. I can watch a movie a thousand times but a book…never have I been able to give a book a second go-round. Sorry guys :(
But if I had to choose, it would be Fly On the Wall by Trista Russell. Man oh man how I remember feeling so addicted to this book. It held the biggest fictional love affair and scandal that I had ever read at the time. I couldn’t put it down! I think what drew me in was the fact that I didn’t want the love affair to end. I was in love with how this illegal couple loved each other so perfectly and I truly believed in their relationship…despite how wrong it was supposed to be. I didn’t want anyone to take it away. But each page threatened to do exactly that.
Now, if there is a book that YOU could read over and over, I would love to hear it!
booooo! LOL …. One book that I can (and do) read over and over again is Way of The Peaceful Warrior. It’s one of a handful of books that I reread at least once year, and it’s a cornerstone of my continued ability to live in present moments… I recommended to everybody! it’s also the ONLY book that I recommend that people watch the movie first.. only because the base concepts were hashed out well in the movie.. but once you got that part, i suggest reading the book (or listening to the audiobook, which is also great and read by the author).
other books I’ve read multiple times: Inspiration by wayne dyer and The Tao of Pooh by benjamin hoff

Really?! What possesses you to reread a book though? No element of surprise is there at all! Do tell, sir. lol

LOL! it’s not just about surprise.. it’s about the journey. and you can relive a journey a thousand times and find new ways and new angles to love it from…. these particular books, though, are life lessons wrapped in narratives (with the exception of wayne dyer, which is pretty much a self help book lol).

You know what, I get what you’re saying now. I think I could reread a book if it wasn’t fiction lol. And you’re right – different angles to love the book from can always be discovered and make it feel like a new experience each time. Look at you, making me want to go grab an old book off of the shelf. I could read “The Power of a Praying Wife” over and over. Does that count?

also… let me ask you this… what possesses you to rewatch a movie? same basic concept. you know whats going to happen. there’s no surprises lol

Wellllll rewatching a movie is more entertaining for me because the chances of me catching something that I didn’t notice before is higher. But even with movies, I have to wait a while before I rewatch!

Besides my own book, of course, I could read The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt 😛Hilarious! I came across it by chance at a book festival. Yes, it’s about crayons and each one has its own personality, style, likes and dislikes. Just like people in your life!!! Lol You will get a kick out of seeing them ( and yourself) in each color. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
Btw, I’m RED CRAYON! Most definitely! 😂 LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

You should be proud that you’re finishing what you’ve started. Lol. Umm, I am so not re-reading a book. My favorite book is, Not Without Laughter and There Eyes Were Watching God. Love it! Especially Not Without Laughter (Langston Hughes)

That’s EXACTLY how I feel. Never will you catch me re-reading a book. I don’t even know what wound bring me to do that lol. I’ve never read those but maybe I should add those to my wishlist too. I have a feeling I’ll do more adding to the wishlist than reading LOL

Ah, the infamous Gone With the Wind! I’ve never seen the movie or read the book *covers my face in shame* lol. But I remember my friend being obsessed with in when we were in junior high. I should watch it, finally!

My other favorite movie is The Sound of Music.
Another movie you either love or hate.

o0o I remember The Sound of Music! I haven’t watched it in years but it was such an uplifting, pleasant movie. Did you ever see the play? I haven’t but I bet you’d love it.

No. I saw it 3 times in one year though in 2005. With Bobby.
He didn’t like it but he went with me.

I love to read, but I can’t think of one that has moved me to read over and over again. The same goes for movies. Once I see a movie, I am finished.

See, I knew I wasn’t alone! lol. I can watch a movie again if its been a while. Why? Because no matter how much I love a movie, I usually forget the ending. I love that about myself haha

The Hunger Games Trilogy, Divergent Series and Harry Potter. I love re-reading books over and over again. I often miss stuff the first few times of a read because I skim a lot. I definitely find new things each read.

ahhhhhhhh I can’t believe it lol! What is the max number of times that you’ve reread a book (that you can remember) and what book was it?

I’ve re-read the Hunger Games Trilogy (all 3 books) 5 times. I like re-reading books.

OMG Josie! Books are so much better than movies to me. There are a few that I could read over and over, but the most recent are the Damaged Souls Series by Twyla Turner. I have also re-read To Kill A Mockingbird and anything by Maya Angelou.

That’s the writer in you lol. Have you read the “sequal” to To Kill A Mockingbird?

I am not sure if I will. There was controversy about the work being released against the writer’s wishes. She was in a nursing home when they released it and now she is deceased. I have read several interviews in the past saying she did not want any other work released.

Oh really?? That’s horrible then. If it’s true, I wouldn’t read it either. People are so self-centered / selfish. No respect
