Meet Josie

Hey nosies! I guess its only fair for me to expose a little of my personals to you since I plan to be all in your mix…(yes, I can be very inquisitive in the comments section of my posts lol). I’m an 80’s baby from Saint Louis, Missouri (go Cards!) but I currently reside in Chicago, Illinois. I moved to Chicago in my mid-twenties, in search of something bigger than myself (and for the food, of course). What I ended up finding were crazy harsh winters and crazy harsh experiences to match.

These lessons taught me a lot about myself and a lot about others. But most importantly, they taught me the importance of challenging myself and my way of thinking. I’m a strong believer in communication being the key to success in all relationships (even if I haven’t always been the best at it). We can learn a lot from each other by sharing our experiences and being open to new ideas and theories.

And no, challenging our views doesn’t always mean that we abandon them, of course. But interrupting our conventional ways of thinking does allow us the opportunity to check our self-awareness. It also lets us diversify ourselves with new perspectives; even if those perspectives conflict with our own.

Are you ready to challenge yourself and your way of thinking? If so, let’s talk! I’m not afraid to voice my opinion and neither is my Nosy Community. Subscribe to MJB and let’s get personal!

  1. New here. Didn’t take visitors survey.

So, the whole premise behind this blog is for YOU to get in other people’s business and post about it? Ironically, I clicked on “The Blog” and clicked on “personals” and found 1 post.

Just trying to figure out the setup.

    • You got it, almost! It’s for me AND my readers to get in other people’s business. It can be news related, about pop culture, celebrities, personal, etc. as long as it’s something that we can hold a discussion about. Personals is where I post things that are unrelated to the blog. Go back to The Blog and click on The Debates to see the main posts. And when you’re done, go ahead and comment so I can get to know you and how you think :)

  2. Well thank you! I truly appreciate that. I definitely agree that individuality is an overlooked need these days. I miss the days of open dialogue…which is what brought me to create this :)

  3. Born and raised in Illinois. First the Chicago Area as a child….my parents grew up there. I am a die hard Cub fan and have spent many a time in St. Louis routing for them . Usually as they were losing. I have also watched and routed for the Cardinals as well. We lived an hour or so from St. Louis….Alton, Grafton area.
Moved to Colorado where I lived for 24 years. Love love it there.
Moved to Florida for LOVE 9 years ago. Yes, For love and ONLY FOR LOVE.
I look forward to reading your blog.
Maybe here on your blog, I can open myself up to a debate or 2. I use to be rather good at it till my memory and word usage became a problem.

    • Hey now! Looks like we have a lot in common. Believe it or not – my next vacation spot (if I can ever get off of my 2 jobs) is Denver. I have a fantasy about blogging in my cabin while looking out at the mountains. Tell me that you had a chance to experience this! This place is all about opening up and speaking your mind so find an old article and get some practice in. Heck, I know you have it in you (*looking at your Cardinals diss* lololol). Welcome to the family Ms.Sara!

  4. How about owning a cabin in the mountains? Ours is in Pike National Park , Florissant , Colorado. West of Colorado Springs. South of Denver.
I am not a big city fan, but I do love Denver.
I have /had friends all over the state and have spent many a night in a cabin in the mountains in all 4 seasons. All over Colorado.
I could go on and on.
My favorite is Winter. I am a Lover of Snow.
I’d head up to the mountains when I ‘d hear of a major snow coming in. I’d get there early enough…..most of the time…..to get everything ready. Most of the time in later years I was alone. When my son was younger we would do the same.
There is something special about the mountains and snow…. a fireplace and books or sitting at a desk just writing. Back then, I was always reading and writing. I wrote long handed and would write all day and night sometimes.
I also love the place that had a hot tub outside.
Snow falling down…You get the picture.
I have to admit: the one thing I did miss at those hot tub events…..Someone to share it with. A romantic someone.
There were a few times I would be at a cabin with family and friends.

    • You own a cabin?! I need your life lol. I love winter also – which is one reason I moved to Chicago. Its definitely something special about the snow. Its a certain peace and intimacy its brings, unlike no other. The picture you painted at the fireplace sounds amazing. I’m glad one of us got to experience it lol. And yes, I daydream about a romantic someone BUT then I remember I would probably melt away before I would ever experience a hot tub romance lol

  5. Don’t get too envious. I haven’t been to Colorado since early 2008. Never planned on NOT going when I moved here and Danny and I got married. That Is an interesting story I will share on the blog one day.
I lived in Colorado an he lived in Florida. (A place where I really didn’t want to move to. )
    We just can’t afford it.
Danny and I were able to afford a few nice vacations here in Florida shortly after we settled in together. Nice meaning Cheaper than most. We did get to Disney World a few times.
That was something I had always dreams of as a child.
Well, Disneyland bit Disney World was just as good.
Somehow over the years…our love remains but Danny forgot ROMANCE…..Very few exceptions.
    Have a good night.
Dreaming of Colorado, Snow, Hot Tubs, Fireplaces. Books and Danny. Or with out. I just need a vacation.

  11. Nice! My father was raised in Jefferson City – and my grandfather lived there. I wish I could have gone out there before he passed.

Last year I went to Chicago last summer on vacation. Guess what baseball game I saw?! I saw the Chicago White Sox versus the St Louis Cardinals. Of course, I was rooting for the Cardinals because that is where my fam is from! The Cardinals won, as well!

  12. As I read this it helped me get to know you more. I know we both follow one another but I want to formally introduce myself. My name is Alia. I reside In Delaware. I am 22. I am learning so much about myself through creating my blog which RockYourLuv.com. The purpose of the start of my blog was the self-hate I had for myself and a lack of self-respect that I didn’t have for myself. My blog is actually a self-love blog I promote real life scenarios that I am currently going through. But I also share stories of enlightenment. There are so many young men and women who experience the up and down feelings of not feeling good enough. My blog is hopefully where they will come to shake off the hate. And immerse themselves in some serious love.
I can’t wait to talk with you more! Your blog is so amazing!!
Sending you many blessings from this side. U Rock!! xoxo

    • Alia, its so nice to formally meet you! I appreciate you so much for sharing the purpose behind your blog – its so selfless and beautiful. The journey to finding self-love is so hard…harder than people could ever imagine. Sharing your stories with the world will do so much… not just for others but for you too. Those up and down feelings don’t always go away; even with the abundance of love that you immerse yourself with. So keep providing encouragement and feeding your spirit with positive words. It’ll serve as a chamber of love when you most need it :) xoxox

  15. It is encouraging to hear that you are residing in my hometown of Chicago, it is my hope that you extract as much purpose that I got growing up in her embrace. I think that your blog speaks to the necessities of oft neglected stories that scream out to be told, I’m a definitely a fan!

    • Oh, how awesome! Are you still residing in Chicago? Living here has shown me so much about my purpose as well as what it means to WORK for it. To accomplish things here has been a challenge for me and has required that I rise to occasions that I never imagined I could. I appreciate your kind words about my blog and I hope that you find yourself a comfortable spot here :). Its definitely a family connection here that continues to encourage and motivate each other! You rock in that area already I see lol.
